Terms of Service
Last updated: March 18, 2026
1. Terms
These Terms govern use of discoveryioop.dance and the Discovery Loop research automation platform (together, the "Service"), operated by Discovery Loop, Inc. ("the Company," "we," "us," or "our"), incorporated in the State of California at 2150 Shattuck Avenue, Suite 400, Berkeley, CA 94704. Accessing or using the Service means you accept these Terms. If you disagree, do not use it.
2. Service Use
- You must be 18 or older, or use the Service with a parent or legal guardian's consent.
- Do not use the Service unlawfully, disrupt its operation, or seek unauthorized access to accounts, systems, or data.
- You may not scrape, reverse-engineer, or copy the Service or its underlying models, except as applicable law allows.
- The Service automates research. Its experimental proposals and hypothesis rankings are decision-support outputs for qualified researchers. Researchers alone must evaluate, validate, and act on any recommendations it generates.
3. Intellectual Property
The Service's software, AI models, data-parsing pipelines, APIs, website text, and visual elements belong to the Company or its licensors and are protected by United States and international intellectual-property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service for its intended purpose: automating your laboratory's experiment cycle.
Your scientific data, instrument output files, and experimental configurations remain your intellectual property. You grant the Company a limited license to process, store, and analyze submissions as needed to provide the research loop service and answer your requests.
4. User Content and Research Data
You are responsible for content submitted through the Service, including instrument output files, experiment parameters, and contact form messages. You represent that you have the rights needed to submit it and that doing so violates no third-party right or applicable law.
We will not use submitted instrument data or experimental configurations to train or fine-tune machine-learning models without your explicit written consent. Section 3 grants only the license needed to operate the research loop and answer your instructions.
5. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE COMPANY DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. THE PLATFORM GENERATES RESEARCH PROPOSALS AND RANKED EXPERIMENT CANDIDATES; IT DOES NOT PROVIDE MEDICAL, CLINICAL, REGULATORY, OR SAFETY ADVICE, AND NO OUTPUT FROM THE SERVICE SHOULD BE TREATED AS SUCH.
6. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE COMPANY AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, INCLUDING DAMAGES RELATING TO RESEARCH OUTCOMES, LOST DATA, OR INTERRUPTION OF LABORATORY OPERATIONS. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO THE COMPANY IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR USD $100, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitation of certain damages; in those jurisdictions, our liability will be limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.
7. Indemnity
You will defend, indemnify, and hold the Company harmless from claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising from (a) your Service use, (b) breach of these Terms, or (c) violation of a third party's rights, including intellectual-property or data rights, tied to research data you submit.
8. Termination
We may suspend or end your Service access at any time, with or without notice, for any reason, including violation of these Terms. After a paid account ends, you have 90 days to export experiment history and uploaded data; it is then permanently deleted. Sections 3, 5, 6, 7, 9, and 10 survive.
9. Governing Law; Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles.
Informal Resolution. Before filing a claim, you agree to contact the Company at [email protected] and attempt informal resolution for at least 60 days.
Arbitration. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be settled by binding arbitration administered in California, USA under the rules of the American Arbitration Association ("AAA"). Judgment on the arbitrator's award may be entered in any court of competent jurisdiction. You and the Company each waive the right to a jury trial and the right to participate in a class action.
Exception. Either party may seek injunctive relief in a court of competent jurisdiction located in California, USA for intellectual-property infringement or unauthorized access to the Service.
10. Changes to Terms
We may revise these Terms from time to time. Material revisions will be posted with a new "Last updated" date. Using the Service after their effective date means you accept them.
